Often the most difficult stage in a love relationship is that point
where two people have established sufficient intimacy to be "involved,"
but one or both may be frightened of taking the next step to full
commitment. Nowadays there is less social pressure, particularly
on women, to get married and have children, and there is no longer a
stigma attached to having a series of relationships. Commitment
can be more easily delayed.
It is safer for the ego not to commit: it feels less exposed and it can
get away with selfish habits that in a shared life could be
intolerable. The ego hates the idea of having to change.
There may be old wounds or insecurities that stand to be exposed by the
greater intimacy that commitment engenders.
An angel who understands all the emotional and psychological
intricacies of commitment is Habbiel, an angel of the First
Heaven and of Monday, the day of the Moon. The Moon governs
the emotions and feelings and also has its dark side, the
