Vasiariah is a member of the Choir of Dominions under
Zadkiel. He is an Angel of Justice and the patron angel of
the legal profession. Vasiariah can be petitioned or invoked to
assist those who are to be judged before the law. He cannot
interfere with the legal system and cannot make someone innocent when
they are guilty.
What he can do is ensure that the corret verdict is reached and, in the
case of guilt, he can encourage the court to be merciful and show
clemency. Sometimes if is not in the best interests
of a person to escape the punishment they have deserved through
their actions. They may allow themselves to feel that they
"got away with it" and have even less respect for the law.
Vasiariah understands the subleties of crime and punishment and,
if called upon to influence a legal proceeding, will not
encourage an especially lenient sentence to be passed unless he feels
that the accused has learned his or her lesson.
Divine Law is concerned less with punishment than contrition, which is
the remorse that comes from recognizing our wrongdoing and the resolve
to change our ways. If we wish to appeal to Vasiariah for mercy,
either for ourselves or someone else, we can write him a petition.
