In most traditional cultures, diseases are believed to be caused by
evil spirits lodged in the body. There is increasing scientific
evidence to suggest that the majority of diseases are caused by viruses
or parasites entering the body. The analogy is obvious, if
alraming. It is quite possible that the fall angels govern
unpleasant parasitical organism that literally suck the life our
of their hosts. In occult angelology there is said to be
only one angel that can defeat Sphendonael, the demon of disease.
That angel is Sabrael, one of the "Shining Ones," or Choir
of Virtues. In cases of disease, Sabrael can be invoked to
root out any demonic impulse or infestation.
As Sabrael must engage in combat, the best day to invoke him is a
Tuesday, when he can use the martial energies harnessed by Camael as
the ruler of Mars. Strong purging and purifying scents should be
burned, such as wormwood and cloves. Light five red candles and
face the east to recite this invocation.
