INVOKING RITUAL OF THE PENTAGRAM

This ritual is another version of  the pentagram ritual described earlier.  It differs in one very important respect.  It begins an invocation by tracing the pentagram in the opposite direction to the protective,  "banishing pentagram."   This is know as the "invoking pentagram,"  and makes the circle a powerful attracting force.  This can draw in energies and spirits that the inexperienced practitioner may find alarming, even though they cannot harm you directly - unless you ask them to!

Using the invoking pentagram places more responsibility on the shoulders of  the petitioner, who then has to  "release"  any spirits unwittingly, or carelessly, bound by the invocation ceremony.  For these reasons, the invoking pentagram should not be used until you have the necessary confidence that only experience can provide.

The invoking ceremony should be performed exactly as outlined earlier, beginning with the Kabbalistic Cross.  The only difference, initially, is that the pentagrams should be traced differently.  The invoking pentagram is drawn from the apex down to the left  "foot,"  then across to the right  "arm"  and so on.  Otherwise the procedure is the same.

Following your invocation to the angel of  your choice you should perform the banishing ritual of  the pentagram, exactly as described earlier.  The only difference is the wording of  the last line addressed to each direction.  For example, in the east, where you start, you say:

In the name of  the almighty
Yod-Heh-Vow-Heh
And Archangel Raphael, prince of  Air,
I banish this circle in the east.

Turning to the south you do the same, concluding:  "I banish this circle in the south."  And likewise to the west and north.  When you arrive back facing east again say:

In the name of  the almighty Creator,
I thank you, Great Archangels
Raphael, Michael, Gabriel, and Uriel,
For gracing this ritual with your holy presence.
Hail and Farewell!

Finally you turn a full circle widdershins  (counterclockwise)  to dissolve the circle, and the ceremony is concluded.
